"The key focus of my role as a Planner is achieving business targets through driving sales, reviewing margins and managing stock levels. I work along side the Buyer - meeting with suppliers, planning and structuring ranges. I forecast and analyse sales, develop action plans for the coming seasons and provide budgets for the Buyer to work to.
I enjoy the freedom to implement some of my own strategies and it’s exciting to see the positive effects. The role is great if you enjoy logic and the thought processes involved in analysis. Your mind is always kept very active. The variation of planning tasks within a season, plus the new initiatives that come with a growing company, means that there are always new projects to work on."

Elise Calvert
Planner

"In terms of planning there is no real degree or qualification that automatically lends itself towards being a planner in retail, so Farmers have pretty much had to create planners from the ground up. I've worked through a structured Trainee Planner Programme, which has helped me and others progress through to planning."

Rob Taurima
Buyer – Toys (Previously Senior Planner)

"Planners and Buyers come together with very different, but complimentary skills. While a Buyer chooses products based on industry trends and customer preferences, Planners help them achieve financial targets. Together we work as a team to meet customer and company expectations."

Jane Mendez
Planner

"My role involves planning sales, gross margin and turnover goals by managing inventory and merchandise flow within strategic guidelines. I enjoy working with like minded and driven individuals that have a common goal of achieving at both a personal and professional level."

Johnathon O'Brien
