At Farmers we're committed to helping you achieve your ambitions; because that's what helps us achieve ours. We strongly believe in "growing our own," so our managers learn our business from the ground up.

We encourage our trainees to set their sights high, and empower them to reach their goals through dedicated training programs, so they can continue to grow and develop in both a supportive and structured environment.

There are many paths to reach your destination, and many roles to experience along the way. The well-travelled road is through each of the roles below.

Trainee Department Managers

Trainee Department Managers work through a comprehensive customised training programme, enabling them to master the skills and knowledge required for retail success. Trainees are immersed in every aspect of retail operations such as Loss Prevention, Store Receiving, Support Services, Merchandising and Management. Under the guidance of the Store Manager, they learn everything they need to master retail excellence.

Trainee Retail Manager

Retail Managers oversee the performance of a range of departments or “worlds” such as Fashion World, Home World or Childrens’ World through a team of Department Managers. This trainee programme prepares you for the next level of management.

Trainee Store Manager

Managing a Farmers store is a complex business, as you’re ultimately accountable for the performance of every department and retail discipline within your store. You need to have an in-depth understanding of every aspect in order to deliver retail excellence. This trainee programme ensures you learn what it takes to be a success, so the store and team you manage is too!

"As a Trainee Manager you're given lots of support and mentoring from your Store Manager to start with, but that flows down to support from various subject matter experts. So, a Loss Prevention Manager will help you learn Loss Prevention, Store Receivers will help you learn all the dock area, and our sales people will give you lots of help learning about sales techniques. It really is a fantastic programme. You're taught everything you could possibly need to know to be a Store Manager or Department Manager."

"When I needed a new career challenge, I decided to look at all the aspects of my job as a beauty therapist that I love – customer service, product presentation and an exciting team environment. I wanted a new challenge, and working at Farmers has given me this, and challenges me every day and has from day one. Now I am training to be a manager and have been constantly surprised at the amount of support and education I am receiving from the team at Farmers. Best of all I get to combine all the things I love with the constant enjoyment of being challenged every day."
